Global Cardboard Challenge meets National Day of Play
Inspired by the short film, 'Caine's Arcade', the  Global Cardboard Challenge is an annual event presented by The Imagination Foundation to celebrate child creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it. The National Day of Play is an annual event designed to encourage children to turn off the electornics and play, especially outdoors. CAP decided to combine the two!

On October 7, 2017 CAP participated in this event for the third year in a row. We invited our local leadership figures and the community at large, from the mayor's office to the principal's office. We have had a lot of success due to our CAP kids, community involvement, and the creativity leadership of Dee Kimbrell; Educational Play Specialist, Professional Development Facilitator, Storyteller, and Visual Artist. Come join us in 2018 and beyond, as we look forward to many more years of fun, inginuity, and creative development from our youth and the people of our great community.

Roots and Shoots is a youth service program for young people of all ages. Their mission is to foster respect and compassion for all living things, to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs, and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for people, other animals, and the environment.  In 2017, Roots and Shoots provided partial funding for CAP's participation in The Global Cardboard Challenge Day of Play, under the direction of Dee Kimbrell.  We chose building relationships with Community Partners as our theme.  Dee supplied photos of the event with her report and they chose this photo of Ja'Merah to use in a marketing piece for their 2018 Growing Compassionate Young Leaders Through Service Learning online course that is taught by Jane Goodall.
TNStrong: #smokefreegeneration In September of 2017 CAP's Are'te Acadamy class visited Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN as part of the TNStrong movement for smoking cessasion in TN. Gallatin Police Department After a reading and information session with our K/1 class, an officer from our friendly GPD spends a few more minutes to entertain the K/1 crew on the merry-go-round. The GPD spends a few invaluable moments each week with our students.
